House Conversion in Italy

This traditional Casa di Compagna built across the contours had animals in the
basement, people on the grond floor and hay in the roof space but no access from
floor to floor so a four metre opening was made from top to bottom and a steel and
stone staircase suspended in it.

The staircase well acts as an armature off which all the rooms open with the kitchen in
pole position around which everyone one gathers to advise and help in this holiday
home. It is roof lit and at the lowest level forms the entrance hall.
