The salon maintained a good reputation amongst its very loyal up-market cliental despite its extremely tired appearance and it was felt necessary that it remain operating while the building work was going on.

The salon is over two floors; basement and ground with a flat on the first and second floors. The new scheme dramatically increased the number of work stations from 18 to 25. The dingy basement was provided with natural light via light-wells at the front and rear of the building. The existing unused side alley and rear courtyard were incorporated into the internal floor plan in order to increase light and floor space.
